Samsung Galaxy Watch V/s Apple Watch Series 4: Which one should you buy?

Samsung Galaxy Watch V/s Apple Watch Series 4

There has been a new trend recently. The trend that put most of the major tech giants at the warfront of smart wearables. The 2 new Flagship smartwatches one from Samsung and one from Apple is are just on the market and has been receiving very good reception from the fans so far. The Apple Watch Series 4 is Currently the leader in wearables and further solidified its position with new features such as a larger display, a built-in electrocardiogram, and fall detection and is so far the best smartwatch to work with the apple ecosystem. On the other hand, Samsung’s Tizen OS-based Galaxy Watch, which has a four-day battery life and built-in LTE and most importantly cross-platform support make it one of the best smartwatches for Android and IOS users.

By the more traditional round design, Samsung's Galaxy Watch looks and feels like a watch at all times, with an always-on display and plenty of watch faces for total personalization. Apple's Watch has a more elegant design with a virtual bezel-less square display and premium built quality Makes it feels like an iPhone accessory, with a massive array of first and third-party fitness apps and health accessories but little opportunity to control individual features. The fitness features on Samsung's Galaxy Watch can track quite a bit, but there's very little outside of these Samsung-made options available to users.

PRICE COMPARISON

It is obvious that when you go for the flagship premium smartwatch you will most probably have to pay a premium price too. Things are not much different in this case. The Apple Watch Series 4 will command a premium over its older models. The Series 4 will start at $399, while the LTE version will start at $499. In USA and 519CAD and 559CAD For Regular models and 689 CAD For the one with cellular connectivity. Samsung kept the price of the Galaxy Watch pretty much in line with previous versions. The 42mm Bluetooth model is $330, and the 46mm version is $ 350. The 42mm LTE Galaxy Watch costs $379, and the 46mm model will cost $399 in the USA. While in Canada they cost 419CAD and 459CAD respectively.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

Apple is offering the Series 4 in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm (it will still offer the Series 3 in a 38mm and 42mm size.). they have a square form factor with a virtually bezel-less display makes it look stunning. The design also makes more sense when it comes to using their wide array of apps. The smallest Galaxy Watch is 42mm, though because it's around the device, it doesn't feel much larger than the Apple Watch. The largest Galaxy Watch is a sizeable 46mm.
Add to that, Samsung’s watch comes in three colors, though it restricts the 46mm to silver, with black and rose gold available only in the 42mm version. Like the Series 3, the Series 4 will come in silver, space gray and gold, but Apple will also offer three stainless steel finishes: polished, space black, and gold stainless. both watches use buttons to complement their touchscreens for navigation. The Apple Watch has a Digital Crown, which you press to view your app screen and turn to scroll down a page. It’s been updated with haptic feedback, which should make scrolling through lists more precise. A side button beneath it calls up your dock of most-used apps. The Galaxy Watch sports a rotating bezel for scrolling, a unique design decision carried over from past generations of Samsung smartwatches. A button on the top right of the watch case is a back key, and beneath it is a home key for returning to the main screen.

FITNESS TRACKING

Apple has been leading health and fitness sensor technology in smartwatches, and the Series 4 is no exception. It has has a few new features that make it excel even further. The watch can already alert you when your heart rate has spiked outside of a workout. That's why you read so many stories about people whose Apple Watches have saved their lives and none about Samsung's watches doing that. Now, the Series 4 can also let you know if your heart rate is too low. More precise accelerometers in the Series 4 can detect if you’ve fallen, and the watch can even start an emergency call automatically if you don’t. You may be able to find similar functions in other watches but when it comes to relatability and trust, the apple watch excels.

On the other hand. The Galaxy Watch offers many health and fitness tracking features, including a stress-management feature that detects when your heart rate is high and guides you through breathing exercises to bring that rate down. The Galaxy Watch also automatically tracks six types of workouts, and it measures heart rate data even when you haven't launched a workout mode. This watch is also swim-proof and packs in GPS and GLONASS for more-accurate tracking of runs and bike rides. The cross-platform support makes it more usable with multiple devices, unlike apple watch which only works within the Apple ecosystem.

BATTERY LIFE COMPARISON

Galaxy watch could give you approximately 4 days of battery life which was in line with what the company claims under moderate to light working conditions. Apple claims the slimmer design of the Series 4 won’t affect its battery life, which is good. But unlike their claims, its battery life is considerably low mostly a day under moderate working conditions compared to Samsung. If we factor in the LTE cellular connectivity it could be even low for both watches.
Smartphone Compatibility
The Galaxy Watch works with both iOS and Android phones, though owners of Samsung's Galaxy phones will get far more out of Galaxy Watches thanks to the watches' tighter integration with the Samsung and Android ecosystem. The Apple Watch works only with iPhones, so Samsung wins on cross-platform compatibility, but just barely.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I prefer apple watch 4. Since its design and the excellent fitness tracker it has. The form factor also makes more sense when it comes to running apps. And the virtually baseless display makes it more stunning. On the other hand Apple watch belongs to the Apple ecosystem, that is to say, it is compatible with iPhone only when it comes to phone pairing. If you are looking for a smartwatch with cross-platform usability and a better battery life then galaxy watch is one of your best bet. I would have chosen galaxy watch over apple watch if it had the same form factor wit WearOS Operating system. But the excellent battery life from Samsung still impresses me and that is one area that Apple should work on plus an introduction of cross-platform availability could help them get into bigger markets.
